Do you suffer from morning under-eye puffiness and eye bags? You're not alone. Did you know that almost 80 percent of women morning puffiness and eye bags? Although a common problem, puffy skin in the morning, especially under the eyes, can significantly age your look. There may be many reasons for puffy eyes, such as dehydration, lack of sleep, or age, but in the end, how can you get rid of morning puffiness quickly and easily?
Too much salt and alcohol at night make your system think, "I am getting dehydrated; better keep some water just in case." This causes it to store water in the tissues, resulting in puffy skin under the eyes and other places. You can avoid salt and alcohol to prevent this, but it may not eliminate all the causes of eye bags.
You can try depuffing your eyes by draining the lymph fluid from your face down your body, usually by a face massage with fingers, a roller, or a gua sha. Unfortunately, the lymphatic drainage takes about 30–40 minutes to alleviate the puffiness because it targets your whole face. Plus, you need to use face oil and be careful not to bruise your skin.
Ice baths are all the rage right now, and they are as easy as they get: fill a bowl with icy water and dunk your face in for 20 to 30 seconds. Cold reduces the flow of blood to your skin’s surface, which reduces puffiness. Although it’s a practical and easy solution for eye bags, some cosmetologists worry that drastic cold plunges can irritate and traumatize the skin.
Under-eye compresses work the same way as ice baths—constricting the blood vessels in your skin to remove puffiness and refreshing your skin as it warms up—but they are more gentle and targeted. You can use traditional cucumber circles or cooled tea bags or switch to modern eye gels and patches, which can do a lot more for your skin. Putting something in the fridge and under your eyes is quick and easy to do at home.
Eye sticks, or under-eye balms, are the most convenient and effective solution for eye bags. Their format is perfect for massaging the under-eye area, and they also have depuffing and skin-firming ingredients that prevent eye bags caused by aging. You can take an eye stick everywhere, even on planes, when puffiness is common but liquid solutions are unavailable.
